The Braves made the playoffs in 2018 for the first time in four seasons after finishing the year with a win-loss record of 90-72. As a result of the team's performance, manager Brian Snitker was recently rewarded with a two-year contract extension with a club option through the 2021 season. Snitker, a 63-year-old native of Decatur, Illinois, was named the Braves' interim manager in May 2016 after the firing of Fredi Gonzalez and was given the position on a full-time basis after the end of the 2016 season. The Braves went 72-90 in its first season with Snitker as manager before making the playoffs this past season.
A former minor league catcher and first baseman, Snitker later spent 20 seasons as a manager in the minor leagues. He has managed 10 different teams, including Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett, and boasts an overall managerial record of 1,570-1,597.
