Getting Legal Help from MVLP
A graduate of Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, Christopher Dunnells serves as an associate attorney at Dunbar/Monroe, PLLC. In this capacity, he handles general insurance defense cases before all state courts. Christopher Dunnells also volunteers his time and experience with the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP).
Since 1982, MVLP has been providing legal assistance to clients dealing with a range of legal issues. In recent years, the organization has focused its work on civil legal matters such as divorces, simple wills, adoptions, and child-support modifications. While attorney fees are usually waived, clients are tasked with paying court fees.
All eligible clients seeking assistance from MVLP are screened by the organization’s staff, and qualified individuals are matched with volunteer attorneys. In addition to this direct representation, the organization hosts pro se legal clinics throughout the state. These clinics provide legal advice and resources to help with matters related to family law. MVLP also hosts guardianship, homeless, and family law clinics throughout the year that provide resources for navigating legal matters when direct representation is not available.
